FOREIGN FISHING TRAWLER APPREHENDED FOR ILLEGAL FISHING

MUARA, Thursday, 28 November 2019 - The Royal Brunei Navy ship, KDB DARUSSALAM apprehended a foreign fishing trawler conducting illegal fishing activities in Brunei Darussalam’s waters. The fishing trawler was first sighted on the morning on 26 November 2019.

A total of six crew members were found onboard the fishing trawler. The fishing trawler and the crew members were handed over to the Marine Police Royal Brunei Police Force for further investigation in the presence of representatives from the Fisheries Department.

The apprehension of this foreign fishing trawler by relevant security agencies serves as a warning and deterrence against the conduct of illegal fishing activities in Brunei waters. At the same time, the incident reflects the joint efforts by local maritime agencies in ensuring the maritime sovereignty of Brunei waters is safeguarded. 

Local fishing communities are encouraged to assist relevant agencies upon the sighting of any illegal fishing activities conducted in Brunei waters and to report them immediately to the National Maritime Coordination Centre (NMCC) on their hotline +6732 2233751.













KAPAL NELAYAN ASING DITANGKAP MENJALANI AKTIVITI PENANGKAPAN IKAN SECARA HARAM

MUARA, Khamis, 28 November 2019 - Kapal Tentera Laut Diraja Brunei (TLDB) KDB DARUSSALAM telah menemui sebuah kapal nelayan asing menjalankan aktiviti penangkapan ikan secara haram di perairan Negara Brunei Darussalam. Kapal nelayan asing tersebut dijumpai pada  26 November 2019 di sebelah pagi.

Kapal nelayan asing seramai enam orang ditunda balik ke Pelabuhan Muara dan diserahkan kepada Polis Marin Pasukan Polis Diraja Brunei dan disaksikan perwakilan dari Jabatan Perikanan.

Penangkapan kapal nelayan asing menjadi iktibar dan amaran kepada nelayan-nelayan asing membuat penangkapan ikan secara haram di perairan Negara Brunei Darussalam. Pada masa yang sama, ianya mencerminkan usaha dan kerjasama di antara agensi-agensi maritim tertentu dalam memastikan kedaulatan maritim Negara Brunei Darussalam sentiasa terjaga. 

Para nelayan tempatan adalah digalakkan untuk memberikan kerjasama dalam membuat laporan serta-merta kepada Pusat Penyelarasan Maritim Kebangsaan (PPMK) di talian hotline +6732 2233751 jika mendapati sebarang kegiatan penangkapan ikan secara haram di perairan Negara Brunei Darussalam.
