He said he would love to see something like that, and had previously mentioned that none of his friends had the same taste in music as he did. Drunk, unthinking, and very adventurous, I told him to come along.

The next day I didn’t regret it, but did start to think that a concert for a first date might be a little overwhelming. And strange. But what was done was done, so I was looking forward to meeting Bachelor Number Twenty.

Before the concert I enjoyed a fun dinner with my friends at the German Club, including quite a few shots of Sour Apple Schnapps and a pint of delicious German beer. We were a bit late arriving at the concert venue, but Bachelor Number Twenty was waiting patiently at the bar and said it was no problems. I introduced him to my two friends who we were seeing the gig with, and we decided to head next door to The Beat for a pre-gig drink as it was over an hour before they were due to come on stage.

Bachelor Number Twenty got chatting to one of my friends, let’s call him “Pepperoni”, about concerts, music and all that jazz. We had a couple of drinks (he bought a round) and headed back to the venue, where my other friend, let’s call her “Gina”, said that he seemed like a nice bloke.

He did seem quite nice but I wasn’t sure that I was really attracted to him. I said he would make a great ‘gig buddy’ because we had similar tastes in music. But that I would see how it all panned out.

After the gig Gina wanted to go out dancing and left Pepperoni and I with Bachelor Number Twenty. We decided to head to the Bowery for one of my favourite cocktails, the Breakfast Martini, as a nightcap. After finishing the drink Pepperoni asked me how I was feeling. “I feel like a swim” I said. Pepperoni has a pool.
