In order to undertake its Mission and
Roles, Royal Brunei Navy is divided into TWO main components BASE & FLEET
Fleet
The DARUSSALAM Class, which consists of 3 Patrol Vessels (PVs), was commissioned in 2001. These recently acquired assets have enhanced the Navy’s capabilities in maintaining presence and response in our maritime focal areas with its secondary role is to provide Human Assistant & Disaster Relief whenever required. The Navy will soon be receiving the fourth and the last sister ship of its kind, KDB DARUTTAQWA.
The Fleet is further complemented with 4 Fast Patrol Boats, The IJHTIHAD Class, The existing Coastal Patrol Squadron and a Singapore-Made, 25-metre Fast Interceptor Boat, KDB MUSTAED.
In support of other units such as the
Royal Brunei Land Force, the Support Squadron has supplemented the Fleet with four existing Landing Crafts which are mainly used as a means of Mobilising Land Forces Light and Heavy vehicles as well as personnel through rivers. These Vessels are named after KDB DAMUAN, KDB PUNI, KDB SERASA and KDB TERABAN.
In complementing RBN’s maritime
response capability, the NAVAL SURFACE ACTION GROUP has been established to support the fleet’s operational tasking in conducting Search And Rescue (SAR), underwater clearance andmaritime interdiction operations."
Admin
Equally important is administration which include in providing
man-power. The followings, fall under the responsibility of the Royal
Brunei Navy Admin:

- Regimental Police
Training Wing
Training Wing is established to provide high quality courses and
training to improve the knowledge in terms of practical and theory for
all officers and other ranks in the Royal Brunei Navy:
- Warfare Training School
- Naval Technical Training School
- Physical Training
- Religious Class
Simply, Training Wing is responsible for the conduct of basic naval skills training to other ranks or sailors such as:
- Navigation
- Seamanship
- Weapons
- Fire Fighting And Damage Control
- Naval Warfare
- Basic Diving
- Communications and
- Engineering
In addition, officers and soldiers are also sent overseas for advanced
training, generally to Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, UK
and United States of America.
Naval Technical Traning School
This school is responsible for establishing technical qualified
personnel and to ensure ship system to be maintained throughout. To
achieve this mission, NTTS provides technical courses as follows:
- Weapon Engineering
- Marine Engineering
- Maritime Warfare
Physical Fitness Training
Physical fitness training is to ensure the Royal Brunei Navy personnel
to reach the physical fitness standards required in the Royal Brunei
Armed Forces.
Religious Class
The Religious Class provides opportunities to enhance the understanding
in Islamic religion. The courses are conducted at the Royal Brunei Navy
Mosque and the courses are as follows:
- Basic Religious Course
- Advanced Religious Course
- Quran reading Course
- 'Fardhu and Kifayah' Course
Logistic
Logistic Royal Brunei Navy, also known as Support Services, is no less
in importance in supporting Royal Brunei Navy in achieving its mission
and roles. To ensure all Royal Brunei Navy assets in operational state
and maintained it at all times to meet the demand of operational ships
at sea. In accordance with that, Logistic Royal Brunei Navy is made up
of the followings:
- Engineering
- Logistic Support Store
- Quartermaster
- Transportation
Engineering
Engineering Section is responsible to give maintenance support and to
enable all Royal Brunei Navy ships to perform its operational duties
efficiently.The Engineering department is further divided into four
main sections namely Hull Engineering, Base Engineering, Marine
Engineering and Weapons Engineering.
Logistic Support Store
Logistic Support Store is responsible for providing equipment and
logistical support for maintenance works, both for the ships and base
facilities. In order to achieve that objective, this department will
procure equipment from outside agencies to make sure all logistical
stocks in a desirable state.
Quartermaster
Quartermaster is responsible to provide military clothing and food
rations to all Royal Brunei Navy personnel and to provide fuel and
fresh water for ships and transportations in the Royal Brunei Navy.
Transportation
The Transport Department is responsible for providing transportation to meet any requirements in the Royal Brunei Navy.
