COLONEL (U) ABDUL RAHMAN BIN HAJI DURAHMAN

Col (U) Abdul Rahman bin Haji Durahman was born on 13th September 1970.   He began his military officer career after graduating from the Royal Air Force College Cranwell, United Kingdom in 1989. He was attached to 2nd Battalion, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) before posted back to the Air Wing, RBAF in 1990.

After completing his basic flying training at No 3 Squadron, Air Wing in 1992, Col (U) Abdul Rahman was then posted to No 1 Squadron, Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) to fly the Bell 212 helicopter and subsequently qualified himself as a test pilot.   He then joined the formation of the new No 4 Squadron in 1997, and has clocked more than 3000 flying hours mainly on the Blackhawk helicopter. His overseas tour includes attachments to the Air National Guards in the United States of America, and various US Army Divisions in Texas and Alaska. He is also a member of the 40th Singapore Command and Staff Course alumni.

Col (U) Abdul Rahman has held various staff and command appointments, which include Staff Officer Grade 3 cum Aide de Camp to the RBAF Commander, Flight Commander Operations at No 4 Squadron, Staff Officer Grade 2 Operations & Plan at RBAirF HQ, Commanding Officer of the Air Regiment, the Operations Wing as well as No 1 Wing before assuming the appointment of Commander Operations Group in May 2017. He was also seconded to a special flying duty tour as the Operations Manager cum pilot for 5 years from the year 2000.

He enjoys travelling, reading, action-thriller movies and social golf excursions, and maintains his fitness by mountain biking.   He is married to Megawati Manan in 2004 and blessed with 2 children, daughter Ameerah and son Raziq.
