REPUBLIC OF KOREA AIR FORCE BLACK EAGLES AEROBATIC TEAM INTERACTION WITH ROYAL BRUNEI AIR FORCE PERSONNEL

RIMBA AIR FORCE BASE, Wed, 24 Feb 2016 – The Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) aerobatic team, the Black Eagles, made a planned refueling stop at Rimba Air Force Base. Personnel from the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) took the opportunity to hold an informal meet and greet at the Air Movement Centre (AMC).

The ROKAF Black Eagles had flown in from Singapore having successfully completed several aerobatic demonstrations at the Singapore Airshow. The team comprises of eight KAI T-50B supersonic jet trainers with an additional aircraft flown together as a spare aircraft. In addition to the nine T50Bs, one C-130 support aircraft flew in yesterday ahead of the team.

Hosting the meet and greet was Col (U) Mohammad Sharif, Commander Operations Group (COG), RBAirF. In his welcoming remarks stated that this informal event was aimed at providing the opportunity for personnel from ROKAF and RBAirF to share experiences and strengthen ties between the two Air Forces.

The ROKAF Black Eagles had previously transited through Rimba Air Base on 9-10 February 2016 from the Republic of Korea en-route to the Singapore Airshow. Aside from the maintenance support provided by their own team arriving with the C-130, ground handling services were provided by Glamco Aviation. The RBAirF coordinated security arrangements, customs and immigration clearances and offered the AMC for as a venue for recuperation and pre-flight briefings.

Col (U) Mohammad Sharif also stated that the ROKAF was very welcome to stop over at Rimba Air Force at anytime in the future and assured that the same support and hospitality would be accorded to them.
