MINDEF welcomes UBD Scholars

15b-10front.jpgBolkiah Garrison, Wednesday 15 October 2008 - The Ministry of Defence received a study visit from approximately 23 undergraduates and 7 post-graduates of the University of Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon at the Officers’ Mess Bolkiah Garrison.

Welcoming the scholars was the Deputy Permanent Secretary 1 Ministry of Defence, Dr. Haji Emran bin Bahar, who also conveyed a welcoming remark. The group was headed by Dr. Hjh Sainah bte Hj Saim, Senior Lecturer, Department of Administration and Public Policy, Faculty of Business, Economics and Policy, University Brunei Darussalam. 

The study visit was intended to raise the knowledge of the scholars on the organizational functions of the ministry, its system of administration and management as well as the service/ performance assessment methodology in practice. This newly acquired knowledge is to supplement the scholars in their respective course assignments.

The day’s itinerary included presentations from senior officers of the Ministry of Defence touching on defence policy, civilian administration and military administration. There were also questions and answers sessions. 

During the visit, the UBD scholars also had the opportunity to participate in a sporting event at the Bolkiah Gymnasium conducted by the Performance Optimisation Centre personnel. The activities included a brief tour of the gymnasium facility, warm-up aerobics, rock-climbing and usage of the fitness equipments.
