THE 17th RBAF- SAF JUNIOR OFFICERS INTERACTION PROGRAMME

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sunday, 9 February 2020 – The 17th Junior Officers Interaction Programme (JIP) 2020 between the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) was held from 7 February until 9 February 2020 in Brunei Darussalam. The programme was participated by 20 RBAF officers led by Lieutenant Colonel Haji Mushiri Zulkhibri bin Haji Awang and 20 SAF officers led by LTC Ng Yen Meng.

Upon arrival, the SAF delegation were greeted by Colonel Dr Jefri bin Haji Abdul Razak, Chairman of the JIP 2020 Programme at a welcoming reception held at the Officers’ Mess, Bolkiah Garrison. Both RBAF and SAF delegations paid a visit to the RBAF Museum, followed with a friendly bowling tournament later in the evening.

On the second day, the participants were given the opportunity to visit the Ulu Temburong National Park and rode along the Temburong River using traditional long boats. The day concluded with an official dinner held that evening at the Officers’ Mess in Berakas Garrison. 

Present as the guest of honour during the dinner was Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Khairul Hamed bin Awang Haji Lampoh, Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force (RBLF). In his speech, the RBLF Commander reiterated the importance of fostering camaraderie at Junior Officer-level as a means of enhancing the continued close ties between the two Armed Forces. 

On the last day of the programme, the participants visited Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas, followed by a riverboat tour, a visit to Kampong Ayer Cultural Gallery and a local home where they had the opportunity to sample traditional foods such as ambuyat and traditional kueh. 

First conducted in 1996, the RBAF-SAF JIP was initiated with the aim of promoting mutual understanding, communication and establishing relationships amongst junior officers who would be future leaders of RBAF and SAF, through informal interactions. The last JIP held in Brunei Darussalam was in 2014.


RBAF – SAF JUNIOR OFFICERS INTERACTION PROGRAMME (RBAF- SAF JIP) KE-17 

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Ahad, 9 Februari 2020 – Junior Officers Interaction Programme yang ke-17 di antara Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) dan Angkatan Bersenjata Republik Singapura (ABRS) telah diadakan pada 7 Februari 2020 hingga 9 Februari 2020 di Negara Brunei Darussalam. Program tersebut telah diwakili 20 pegawai daripada ABDB diketuai oleh Leftenan Kolonel Haji Mushiri Zulkhibri bin Haji Awang dan 20 pegawai daripada ABRS diketuai oleh LTC Ng Yen Meng.

Sejurus tiba, delegasi ABRS disambut oleh Kolonel Dr Jefri bin Haji Abdul Razak selaku Pengerusi Program JIP 2020 semasa majlis resepsi di Mes Pegawai, Bolkiah Garison. Kedua-dua delegasi ABDB dan ABRS juga melawat Muzium ABDB, diikuti oleh satu pertandingan bowling pada malamnya. 

Pada hari kedua, para peserta diberi peluang untuk melawat Taman Negara Ulu Temburong dan berpeluang untuk meneroka Sungai Temburong menggunakan perahu temuai. Majlis Makan Malam Rasmi pula diadakan di Mes Pegawai Berakas Garison. 

Hadir selaku tetamu kehormat adalah Brigedier Jeneral Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Khairul Hamed bin Awang Haji Lampoh, Pemerintah Tentera Darat Diraja Brunei (TDDB). Dalam ucapannya, Pemerintah TDDB menekankan betapa pentingnya memupuk persahabatan di peringkat Pegawai Muda antara kedua-dua Angkatan Tentera demi menjamin hubungan rapat yang berterusan ke masa depan.

Pada hari terakhir, para peserta dibawa melawat Bandar Seri Begawan bermula dengan Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas dan diikuti dengan menaiki bot untuk menikmati keindahan Sungai Brunei diikuti dengan kunjungan ke Galeri Kebudayaan Kampong Ayer dan sebuah rumah tempatan di mana mereka berpeluang mencuba makanan tradisi seperti ambuyat dan kuih-muih.

Pertama kali dianjurkan pada tahun 1996, RBAF-SAF JIP bertujuan untuk memupuk persefahaman, komunikasi dan hubungan erat diantara kalangan pegawai muda yang bakal menjadi pemimpin masa depan ABDB dan ABRS, melalui interaksi secara tidak formal. Kali terakhir JIP dianjurkan di Negara Brunei Darussalam adalah pada tahun 2014.
