POH KUI CHOON
DEPUTY PERMANENT SECRETARY
By the command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Poh Kui Choon is appointed as Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence on 26 September 2023.
Prior to her appointment as Deputy Permanent Secretary, Poh Kui Choon was the Director of Finance and Acquisition at the Ministry of Defence until 25 September 2023.
Poh Kui Choon began her career in government service in 1993 as a Finance Officer at the Treasury Department in the Ministry of Finance (later known as the Ministry of Finance and Economy), subsequently seconded to Electrical Department Services, Ministry of Development on 6 June 1996 and later promoted as Senior Finance Officer on 6 December 2005. She was transferred back to the Treasury Department on 2 March 2009 to lead the implementation of The Government e-Payment Gateway Project which was successfully completed in 2014. She was then transferred to the Directorate of Finance and Acquisition at the Ministry of Defence on 10 January 2017 before being confirmed as the Director of Finance and Acquisition on 28 December 2019.
She graduated from the University of Exeter in 1993 with an honors Bachelor Degree in Accounting Studies. She also completed the 14th Executive Development Programme for Senior Government Officers in 2018 and has completed project papers, titled Sustainability of Public Financial Management Reform, and Sustainability of Brunei Student Loan Policy Scheme in 2019.
With the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam, she was awarded Darjah Setia Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bahagia Darjah ke-empat (P.S.B) in July 2022. She also received Pingat Kerja Lama (P.K.L) in May 2022 and Pingat Indah Kerja Baik (P.I.K.B) in February 2008.
