TANAH JAMBU, Monday, 27 June 2022 – The Centre of Science and Technology Research and Development (CSTRAD), Ministry of Defence launched the inaugural Brunei Darussalam Conference on Defence Science and Technology 2022 (B-SCI 2022) at Defence Academy Royal Brunei Armed Forces (DA RBAF), Kg Tanah Jambu starting from today, 27 June until 28 June 2022 with the theme ‘Defence Science and Technology Innovation for Future Sustainment’.
The two-day conference began with an opening ceremony officiated by representative of Yang Mulia Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abd. Kadir, Deputy Minister of Defence, as guest of honour, Pengiran Dr Haji Mohd Esa Al-Islam bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Yunus, Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence. Also in attendance were Ra’es of Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan, Permanent Secretaries, Service Commanders and Joint Force Commander, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Chief Executive Officers, Directors, Commandants, and senior officers from relevant government agencies, local institutions and the private sector.
The first day saw a keynote address delivered by Dr Hajah Zalini Yunus, Deputy Director General of The Science and Technology Research Institute for Defence (STRIDE), Malaysia, titled ‘Leveraging on Regional Partnerships to Advance Science Technology Innovation (STI) Development & Adoption to Support Future Defence Capability Sustainment’. This was followed by a virtual panel forum on ‘Defence S&T Policies Towards Defence Capability Sustainment and Collaboration Between Government, Industry, and Academia’, participated by Ms Francesca Rush, Chief Counsel – Commercial at the Australian Department of Defence; Mr Roy Chan, Deputy Chief Executive (Operations), Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), Singapore; and Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Sharif Bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force.
The conference aims to promote a community and professional network of researchers, scientists and engineers to fulfil the defence and security needs of Brunei Darussalam through the exchange of ideas, knowledge and current research; to further strengthen ties and collaboration among professionals and experts from local and international universities, research institutions, government and private agencies; and to unite researchers, engineers dan technology experts to establish a professional and collaborative science and technology group.

PERASMIAN PERSIDANGAN SAINS DAN TEKNOLOGI PERTAHANAN NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 2022 (B-SCI 2022)
TANAH JAMBU, Isnin, 27 Jun 2022 – Pusat Penyelidikan dan Perkembangan Sains dan Teknologi (P3ST) buat julung kalinya melancarkan Persidangan Sains dan Teknologi Pertahanan Negara Brunei Darussalam 2022 (B-SCI 2022) di Akademi Pertahanan Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (AP ABDB) Kg Tanah Jambu, bermula dari 27 hingga 28 Jun 2022 dengan tema ‘Defence Science and Technology Innovation for Future Sustainment’.
Persidangan selama dua hari tersebut dimulakan dengan majlis perasmian yang disempurnakan oleh wakil Yang Mulia Brigedier Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abd. Kadir, Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan, sebagai tetamu kehormat, Pengiran Dr Haji Mohd Esa Al-Islam bin Pengiran Haji Mohd Yunus, Pemangku Setiausaha Tetap Kementerian. Turut hadir ialah Ra’es Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan, Setiausaha-Setiausaha Tetap, Pemerintah-Pemerintah Angkatan Tentera dan Angkatan Bersama, Timbalan-Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif, Pengarah-pengarah, Komandan-komandan dan pegawai-pegawai dari pelbagai agensi-agensi kerajaan, institusi tempatan dan sektor swasta.
Hari pertama persidangan tersebut telah menyaksikan penyampaian ucaptama oleh Dr Hajah Zalini Yunus, Timbalan Ketua Pengarah di Science and Technology Research Institute for Defence (STRIDE), Malaysia bertajuk

Objektif persidangan tersebut adalah untuk menggalakkan komuniti dan rangkaian profesional penyelidik, saintis dan jurutera yang erat untuk memenuhi keperluan pertahanan dan keselamatan Negara Brunei Darussalam melalui pertukaran idea, pengetahuan dan penyelidikan terkini; memupuk kerjasama di antara para profesional dan pakar dari universiti, institusi penyelidikan, jabatan-jabatan kerajaan dan industri tempatan dan antarabangsa; dan menyatupadukan penyelidik, jurutera dan pakar teknologi dalam menubuhkan kumpulan profesional sains dan teknologi pertahanan yang berkolaboratif.
