BUKIT SIPATIR HIKING CHALLENGE

BUKIT SIPATIR, 5th August 2022 – The Directorate of Development and Work Services held a hiking challenge for Friday afternoon sports at Bukit Sipatir today. Eight teams of two took to the trail in a competition of cooperation, endurance and speed until ultimately one team emerged victorious at the end.

Prior to the event, the challenge committee – which comprised of members of the Directorate – held weekly training sessions when they would hike with Directorate officers and staff along the challenge trail. These weekly training sessions were open to officers and staff members alike, regardless of participation within the challenge itself. According to the challenge committee leader, Pg Jefri bin Pg Tajuddin, the purpose of the challenge is to encourage a healthier lifestyle among officers and staff members of the Directorate; the training sessions were therefore able to extend this encouragement beyond the competition itself.

On the day of the event, committee members hiked the trail early to mark it for the challenge. Then, following a quick warm-up session, the competitors were divided into their respective teams. After a recital of Doa Masuk Hutan, the competitors set off onto the trail, followed by a team of two sweepers. It wasn’t long until the first teams resurfaced to claim victory of the challenge.

The hiking challenge was ultimately won by Pg Amir Faisal bin Pg Hj Razali and Ahmad Rifaie bin Haji Samah who completed the trail in 35 minutes. The day ended with a quick prize giving ceremony with talks underway for another hiking challenge in the near future.
