UNP 2-1 MARAKAH CAMP, SOUTH LEBANON, Saturday, 12 November 2022 – The Transfer of Authority (TOA) ceremony between MALBATT 850-9 and MALBATT 850-10 was held at UNP 2-1 Parade Square, Marakah Camp, South Lebanon.
The event was attended by Major General Aroldo Lázaro Sáenz, Head of Mission/Force Commander United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) (HOM/FC) and witnessed by Lieutenant General Dato' Haji Yazid bin Haji Arshad RMAF, Joint Force Commander, UNIFIL Sector West Commander as well as Commanders UNIFIL Troops Contributing Countries, Senior Officers of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), Lebanese Mayors, the Malaysian delegation and Brunei Darussalam Defence Attaché in Malaysia.
The ceremony commenced with a general salute by the parade commander to the HOM/FC, followed by the inspection of the parade contingent by the HOM/F and the hoisting of the United Nations (UN) flag, followed by the flags of Brunei Darussalam, Lebanon and Malaysia.
The highlight of the TOA that morning was the handover of the UN flag by Commander MALBATT 850-9 to Commander 850-10, which was witnessed by HOM/FC, symbolising the significance of the handing over of duties and responsibilities of the Commander and MALBATT especially in continuing the success of the peacekeeping mission in South Lebanon. This ceremony was further enhanced by the presentation of UNIFIL's UN medals, for the completion of the 6 months of the second term, to the Commander of MALBATT 850-9, the Staff Officer of the Service Representative, the Women's Representative, and the Contingent Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF). It then proceeded with the presentation of the Silver Military Valour Medal to the Commander of MALBATT 850-9 by a South Litani Sector Commander, Lebanese Armed Forces representative.
The Commander MALBATT 850-9 then delivered his speech where he emphasised that peace is achievable through mutual understanding and by understanding the Lebanese community. It was then continued with a speech from the HOM/FC where he expressed his gratitude to the Commander and all of MALBATT 850-9 for completing the mission successfully. He also admired the attitude and professionalism shown by the Commander of MALBATT 850-9 in managing operational matters that enable the personnel of MALBATT 850-9 to carry out their duties efficiently and smoothly, especially in the MALBATT Area of Responsibility. The RBAF joined UNIFIL in collaboration with the Malaysian Armed Forces in 2008 (MALCON WEST 1), with currently 30 RBAF personnel joining the UNIFIL mission with MALBATT 850-10 in Lebanon.
UPACARA TRANSFER OF AUTHORITY DAN PERBARISAN PENYAMPAIAN PINGAT BAGI MALBATT 850-9
KEM MARAKAH UNP 2-1, SELATAN LUBNAN, Sabtu, 12 November 2022 – Upacara Transfer of Authority (TOA) diantara Batalion Malaysia (MALBATT) 850-9 dan MALBATT 850-10 telah diadakan di Dataran Kawad UNP 2-1, Kem Marakah, Selatan Lubnan.
Majlis tersebut telah dihadiri oleh Mejar Jeneral Aroldo Lázaro Sáenz, Ketua Misi/Pasukan Komander United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) (HOM/FC) dan disaksikan oleh Leftenan Jeneral Dato' Haji Yazid bin Haji Arshad TUDM, Panglima Angkatan Bersama, ATM, Komander Sektor Barat UNIFIL serta Komander-Komander di bawah Trup UNIFIL, Pegawai Kanan Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), Pembesar-Pembesar Lubnan, Delegasi Malaysia serta Penasihat Pertahanan Negara Brunei Darussalam di Malaysia.
Majlis dimulakan dengan Tabik Hormat oleh Ketua Perbarisan kepada HOM/FC, diikuti dengan Pemeriksaan Perbarisan Kontinjen oleh HOM/FC dan menaikkan bendera Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu (PBB) diikuti dengan bendera negara Brunei Darussalam, Lubnan dan Malaysia.
Acara kemuncak TOA pagi itu adalah Penyerahan Bendera PBB oleh Komander MALBATT 850-9 kepada Komander 850-10 yang disaksikan oleh HOM/FC yang melambangkan pentingnya penyerahan tugas serta tanggung jawab Komander dan MALBATT khususnya dalam menjayakan misi pengaman di Selatan Lubnan secara berterusan. Majlis ini diserikan lagi dengan penyampaian pingat PBB UNIFIL bagi menyempurnakan tempoh 6 bulan penugasan penggal kedua kepada Komander MALBATT 850-9, Pegawai Staf wakil perkhidmatan, Wakil Wanita dan Ketua Kontinjen Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB). Ini diikuti dengan anugerah Silver Military Valour kepada Komander MALBATT 850-9 yang disampaikan oleh wakil dari South Litani Sector Commander, Lebanese Armed Forces.
Komander MALBATT 850-9 kemudian menyampaikan ucapan beliau di mana beliau menekankan bahawa keamanan akan dapat dicapai melalui persefahaman antara satu sama lain serta memahami masyarakat Lubnan. Ianya diteruskan dengan ucapan dari HOM/FC di mana beliau merakamkan ucapan terima kasih kepada Komander dan seluruh Warga MALBATT 850-9 kerana telah berjaya menyempurnakan misi dengan jayanya. Beliau turut mengagumi sikap kewibawaan dan profesionalisme yang ditunjukkan oleh Komander MALBATT 850-9 dalam menguruskan hal-hal pengoperasian yang membolehkan warga MALBATT 850-9 melaksanakan tugas dengan cekap dan lancar terutama di kawasan tanggungjawab MALBATT. Penglibatan Kontinjen Negara Brunei Darussalam dalam misi pengaman bermula pada tahun 2008 (MALCON WEST 1) dan pada ketika ini seramai 30 anggota ABDB sedang mengikuti misi UNIFIL bersama MALBATT 850-10 di Lubnan.
