CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA, Thursday, 13 February 2025 - The 2nd Royal Brunei Air Force – Royal Australian Air Force Air Working Group (2nd RBAirF-RAAF AWG) was successfully held for two (02) days from 11-12 February 2025 in Canberra, Australia. The meeting took place at the Russell Office and was co-chaired by Colonel (U) Haji Mohd Albadii Shahnoel bin Haji Mohd Noeh, Chief of Staff of the RBAirF, as Head of Delegation, and Group Captain Kent Bowes, Director of International Engagement for the Air Force.
The AWG was conducted in person for the first time, as the inaugural meeting in 2022 was held via Video Teleconference (VTC). The physical meeting provided a more personal touch, allowing both Co-Chairmen to engage in deeper discussions. The RBAirF delegation included Lieutenant Colonel (U) Sherpor Nezam bin Abdul Ghapor, Assistant Chief of Staff, Planning (A5), and Major (U) Muhd Adib bin M. Abidin, Staff Officer Grade 2, Ops (A3).
The AWG commenced with opening remarks from both Co-Chairmen before proceeding with the predetermined agenda. The meeting extensively covered bilateral cooperation matters, including Subject Matter Expert Exchanges on topics such as Flight Safety and courses offered by both air forces. Additionally, capability and operational briefs were shared, along with training opportunities aimed at enhancing interoperability between the RBAirF and RAAF. The discussion also reviewed past activities and engagements, including RBAirF's participation in Exercise Pitch Black 2024 and the RAAF's attendance at the Royal Brunei Armed Forces' 62nd Anniversary in 2023.
During this period, RBAirF delegates had the opportunity to visit the Air Combat School in Camden, where four (04) RBAirF student pilots are currently undergoing Basic Flying Training. The visit also included a stop at the Innovation Centre in CAE Australia, where the delegates experienced the latest Virtual Reality project designed to enhance training and operational development at CAE. Lastly, the delegates attended the Last Post Ceremony at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra where Colonel (U) Haji Mohd Albadii, alongside Group Captain Kent Bowes, had the honor of laying a wreath at the Pool of Reflection to pay tribute to fallen soldiers.
The RBAirF-RAAF AWG is a biennial event hosted alternately by both air forces and scheduled before the Australia-Brunei Joint Defence Working Group (ABJDWC), which is held every two years. The AWG meeting focused on strengthening defence cooperation through information sharing and future exchanges, further enhancing the relationship between both air forces.
MESYUARAT KELOMPOK KERJA UDARA TENTERA UDARA DIRAJA BRUNEI – TENTERA UDARA DIRAJA AUSTRALIA KE-2 (KKU KE-2 TUDB-TUDA)
CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA, Khamis, 13 Februari 2025 - Mesyuarat Kelompok Kerja Udara Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei – Tentera Udara Diraja Australia ke-2 (KKU Ke-2 TUDB-TUDA) telah berjaya dilaksanakan selama dua (02) hari dari 11 hingga 12 Februari 2025 di Canberra, Australia. Mesyuarat tersebut berlangsung di Pejabat Russell dan dipengerusikan bersama oleh Kolonel (U) Haji Mohd Albadii Shahnoel bin Haji Mohd Noeh, Ketua Staf TUDB selaku Ketua Delegasi, serta Group Captain Kent Bowes, Director of International Engagement for the Air Force.
KKU telah diadakan secara bersemuka buat pertama kali, selepas mesyuarat dibuat pada tahun 2022 melalui Persidangan Video (VTC). Mesyuarat secara fizikal ini memberikan sentuhan yang lebih peribadi, membolehkan kedua-dua Pengerusi bersama berbincang dengan lebih mendalam. Delegasi TUDB terdiri daripada Leftenan Kolonel (U) Sherpor Nezam bin Abdul Ghapor, Penolong Ketua Staf, Rancangan (A5), dan Mejar (U) Muhd Adib bin M. Abidin, Timbalan Pegawai Turus Gerakan (A3).
KKU dimulakan dengan ucapan pembukaan daripada kedua-dua Pengerusi Bersama sebelum meneruskan agenda yang telah ditetapkan. Mesyuarat secara menyeluruh membincangkan perkara
berkaitan kerjasama dua hala, termasuk Pertukaran Pakar Subjek seperti Keselamatan Penerbangan, serta kursus yang ditawarkan oleh kedua-dua tentera udara. Selain itu, taklimat keupayaan dan operasi turut dikongsi, bersama peluang latihan yang bertujuan meningkatkan keserasian antara TUDB dan TUDA. Perbincangan juga meneliti aktiviti dan penglibatan terdahulu, termasuk penyertaan TUDB dalam Eksesais Pitch Black 2024 serta kehadiran TUDA pada Sambutan Hari Ulang Tahun Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei ke-62 pada tahun 2023.
Delegasi TUDB juga berpeluang untuk melawat Sekolah Pertempuran Udara di Camden, di mana empat (04) pegawai TUDB sedang menjalani Latihan Terbang Asas. Delegasi terus menuju ke Pusat Inovasi di CAE Australia, di mana berpeluang menyaksikan projek Realiti Maya terbaru yang direka untuk meningkatkan latihan dan pembangunan operasi di CAE. Last Post Ceremony di Australia War Memorial di Canberra dimana Kolonel (U) Haji Mohd Albadii, bersama dengan Group Captain Kent Bowes, berkesempatan untuk meletakkan karangan bunga di Kolam Refleksi, satu tradisi bagi memperingati pengorbanan anggota-anggota tentera Australia.
KKU TUDB-TUDA adalah acara yang dianjurkan secara bergilir oleh kedua-dua tentera udara dan dijadualkan sebelum Kumpulan Kerja Pertahanan Bersama Australia-Brunei (ABJDWC), yang diadakan setiap dua tahun. Mesyuarat KKU ini memberi tumpuan kepada pengukuhan kerjasama pertahanan melalui perkongsian maklumat dan pertukaran masa depan, seterusnya meningkatkan lagi hubungan antara kedua-dua tentera udara.
