RIMBA AIR FORCE BASE, Tuesday, 5 November 2024 – The Brunei Darussalam 'Operasi BADAI TADUH Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission in the Republic of the Philippines following the severe Tropical Storm Kristine (Trami), was successfully carried out by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) contingent from 27 October 2024 to 5 November 2024 and has safely returned home.
Present to welcome their return was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Defence II.
Also in attendance were Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander RBAF; Members of Defence Executive Committee, Members of RBAF Executive Committee, Chargé d'affaires from the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam, Defence and Armed Forces Attache of the Republic of the Philippines, Acting Director of East Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Senior Officers at the Ministry of Defence and families of the personnel involved in the mission.
Brunei Darussalam via the Ministry of Defence, deployed two teams comprising 37 personnel using three Brunei Royal Air Force (RBAirF) aircrafts: one C295MW Transport Aircraft and two Blackhawk S70i helicopters to conduct Air Logistics Support to remote and inaccessible areas.
Throughout the mission, the first team based in Manila successfully carried out shuttle flights from Col Jesus Villamor Air Base, Manila to Bicol International Airport, Luzon, transporting a total of 379 tarpaulin sheets weighing 18.2 tonnes using the RBAirF's C295MW Transport Aircraft and totaling over 17.1 flight hours. Meanwhile, the second team based at the Old Legazpi Airport, successfully conducted flights to remote and inaccessible areas, delivering 1999 boxes of food supply weighing 18 tonnes using the RBAirF Blackhawk S70i helicopters, totaling to 11.5 flight hours. In total, Brunei Darussalam's 'Operasi BADAI TADUH' Humanitarian and Disaster Relief (HADR) Team successfully transported 36.2 tonnes of essential supplies to the affected areas.
In recognition of Brunei Darussalam's support for the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief mission for Typhoon Kristine (Trami), the Brunei Darussalam contingent was honoured with the “Chief of Staff, AFP Commendation Medal and Ribbon", presented by Lieutenant General Stephen P. Parreño TUF, Commander of the Philippine Air Force during a Recognition and Medal Presentation Ceremony.
The 'Operasi BADAI TADUH' mission exemplifies the Ministry of Defence's commitment to contributing to HADR operations in the region, recognising the contributions of the defence sector in addressing natural disasters and the use of military assets and capacities in support of the ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER).
KONTINJEN 'OPERASI BADAI TADUH' NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM KEMBALI KE TANAH AIR SETELAH MELAKSANAKAN BANTUAN KEMANUSIAAN DAN BENCANA (HADR) DI REPUBLIK FILIPINA
PANGKALAN TENTERA UDARA RIMBA, Selasa, 5 November 2024 – 'Operasi BADAI TADUH' misi Bantuan Kemanusiaan dan Bencana (HADR) di Republik Filipina susulan daripada Ribut Tropika Kristine (Trami),telah selesai dilaksanakan oleh kontingen Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) daripada 27 Oktober 2024 hingga 5 November 2024 dan telah selamat pulang ke tanah air.
Hadir bagi mengalu-alukan kepulangan mereka ialah Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II.
Turut hadir adalah Yang Mulia Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander RBAF, Ahli-Ahli Komiti Eksekutif Pertahanan, Ahli-Ahli Komiti Eksekutif ABDB, wakil dari Kementerian Hal-Ehwal Luar Negeri, Kuasa Usaha
Kedutaan Besar Republik Filipina ke Negara Brunei Darussalam, Atase Pertahanan, Angkatan Tentera Republik Filipina, Pegawai-Pegawai Kanan Kementerian Pertahanan dan ahli-ahli keluarga anggota-anggota ABDB yang menyertai 'Operasi BADAI TEDUH'.
ABDB telah menghantar dua pasukan yang terdiri daripada 37 anggota menggunakan tiga pesawat Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei (TUDB): sebuah Pesawat Angkut C295MW dan dua helikopter Blackhawk S70i untuk melaksanakan Bantuan Logistik Udara ke kawasan pedalaman yang sukar diakses.
Disepanjang misi tersebut, pasukan pertama yang berpangkalan di Manila telah berjaya melaksanakan tugas penerbangan ulang-alik dari Pangkalan Udara Col Jesus Villamor, Manila ke Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Bicol, Luzon dengan mengangkut sebanyak 379 keping kain terpal seberat 18.2 tan dengan menggunakan Pesawat Angkut C295MW TUDB mengumpul masa melebihi 17.1 jam penerbangan. Manakala, pasukan kedua pula yang berpangkalan di Lapangan Terbang Lama Legazpi telah berjaya melaksanakan tugas penerbangan ke kawasan-kawasan pedalaman yang sukar di akses dengan menghantar sebanyak 1999 kotak bantuan makanan seberat 18 tan dengan menggunakan Pesawat Helikopter Blackhawk S70i TUDB yang mengumpul masa sebanyak 11.5 jam penerbangan. Secara keseluruhan, Pasukan Kemanusiaan dan Bantuan Bencana 'Operasi BADAI TADUH' Negara Brunei Darussalam telah berjaya mengangkut 36.2 tan bekalan penting ke kawasan yang terjejas.
Sebagai penghargaan atas sokongan Negara Brunei Darussalam kepada misi Bantuan Kemanusiaan dan Bencana bagi Taufan Kristine (Trami), kontinjen Negara Brunei Darussalam telah diberikan penghormatan dengan penganugerahan “Pingat dan Riben Kepujian Ketua Turus AFP" disampaikan oleh Leftenan Jeneral Stephen P. Parreño TUF, Panglima Tentera Udara Filipina di dalam sebuah Majlis Pengiktirafan dan Penganugerahan Pingat.
Misi 'Operasi BADAI TADUH' mencerminkan komitmen Kementerian Pertahanan dalam menyumbang kepada operasi bantuan kemanusiaan dan bencana alam di rantau ini, disamping mengiktiraf “ASEAN Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response (AADMER). dengan menyumbangkan aset dan kapasiti ketenteraan dalam menangani bencana alam.
