37 OFFICERS COMPLETE 14TH RBAF COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE

KAMPONG TANAH JAMBU, Thursday, 10 October 2024 – A total of 37 local and international military officers received certificates for completing the 14th Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Command and Staff Course (CSC) during the closing ceremony at the Defence Academy RBAF (DA RBAF) this afternoon.

 

The 14th RBAF CSC comprised officers from the Ministry of Defence and RBAF, other security agencies from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) and Internal Security Department (ISD), as well as 18 international military officers namely from the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Republic of Indonesia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Sultanate of Oman, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Singapore, the Kingdom of Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

Present as the guest of honour was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Defence II.

In his speech, the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Defence II emphasised the importance of continuous professional development among leaders to prepare for the increasingly complex security challenges. He also acknowledged the improvement in the Cumulative Grade Point Average (cGPA) achieved by Cohort 14. Additionally, he took note of the enhancements to the programme for the upcoming year, including the introduction of a transition to a Master's Programme, which will elevate the status and prestige of the Command and Staff College (CSC) of the RBAF through a partnership with University Brunei Darussalam (UBD), in line with the need for lifelong learning. The Minister also expressed pride in the first-ever participation from the Royal Cambodian Army, bringing the total number of participating nations to 19 since the inception of the CSC of RBAF. This underscores the vital role of defence diplomacy in strengthening international friendships and regional security cooperation.

A total of four recognition awards were given to course participants this year. The Overall Excellence Award was given to Major Cai Chengyi from the Republic of Singapore who also received the Academic Excellence Award. Meanwhile, the RBAF Commendation Award was presented to Lieutenant Commander Muhamad Adib Izzuddin bin Haji Ramli, RBN, representing the DA RBAF. Additionally, the Commandant's Award was presented to Mohammad Hazwan bin Mohammad Azani, also from DA RBAF.

 

The 40-week course, delivered in partnership with UBD, aims to broaden officers' perspectives and professional expertise using practical and academic approaches and disciplines to explore the current strategic environment issues and their implications for those working in the defence and security fields.

Also present during this event were Members of Defence and RBAF Executive Committee, Commissioner of Police RBPF, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Foreign Diplomatic Missions, Resident and Non-Resident Defence Advisers and Defence Attachés accredited to Brunei Darussalam, Directors, Commandants, UBD faculty members, as well as senior officers from the Ministry of Defence.​

37 PEGAWAI TAMAT KURSUS MAKTAB TURUS ABDB KE-14

 

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Khamis, 10 Oktober 2024 –  Seramai 37 pegawai tempatan dan antarabangsa menerima sijil menamatkan Kursus Maktab Turus Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) sesi ke-14 pada majlis penutup di Akademi Pertahanan ABDB (AP ABDB) petang ini.

 

Peserta Kursus Maktab Turus ABDB kali ke-14 ini terdiri daripada pegawai-pegawai Kementerian Pertahanan dan ABDB, agensi-agensi keselamatan lain iaitu Pasukan Polis Diraja Brunei (PPDB) dan Jabatan Keselamatan Dalam Negeri, serta 18 orang pegawai tentera antarabangsa iaitu dari Republik Rakyat Bangladesh, Kerajaan Kemboja, Republik Indonesia, Kerajaan Hasyimiah Jordan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Kesultanan Oman, Republik Islam Pakistan, Republik Filipina, Kerajaan Arab Saudi, Republik Singapura, Kerajaan Thailand, United Kingdom dan Amerika Syarikat.

 

Hadir selaku tetamu kehormat ialah Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Mejar Jeneral (Bersara) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II.

Dalam ucapannya, Yang Berhormat Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan Menteri Pertahanan II menekankan kepentingan pembangunan profesional berterusan dalam kalangan pemimpin untuk menghadapi cabaran keselamatan yang semakin kompleks. Beliau berbangga dengan pencapaian peningkatan Purata Nilai Gred Kumulatif (cGPA) Kohort 14. Di samping itu, beliau mengambil maklum penambahbaikan pada program tahun hadapan dengan memperkenalkan peralihan ke Program Sarjana, yang akan meningkatkan status dan martabat Maktab Turus ABDB melalui kerjasama dengan Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), selaras dengan keperluan pembelajaran sepanjang hayat. Yang Berhormat Menteri juga gembira atas penyertaan buat julung kalinya dari Royal Cambodian Army, menjadikan keseluruhan penyertaan dari negara-negara sahabat meningkat kepada sebanyak 19 buah negara sejak penubuhan Maktab Turus ABDB. Ini menegaskan betapa pentingnya peranan diplomasi pertahanan dalam memperkukuh hubungan persahabatan antarabangsa dan kerjasama keselamatan serantau.

Sebanyak empat anugerah pengiktirafan diberikan kepada peserta kursus pada tahun ini. Anugerah Overall Excellence diberikan kepada Mejar Cai Chengyi dari Republik Singapura yang juga turut menyandang Anugerah Academic Excellence. Sementara itu, Anugerah RBAF Commendation telah dianugerahkan kepada Leftenan Komander Muhamad Adib Izzuddin bin Haji Ramli, TLDB, yang mewakili AP ABDB, dan Anugerah Commandant disampaikan kepada Mohammad Hazwan bin Mohammad Azani juga dari AP ABDB.​

Kursus yang dijalankan selama 40 minggu ini dikendalikan dengan kerjasama UBD dengan tujuan untuk memperluaskan pengetahuan profesional secara praktikal dan akademik serta disiplin bagi mengkaji persekitaran strategik semasa dan kesannya terhadap tugasan mereka di dalam bidang pertahanan dan keselamatan.


Turut hadir di majlis ini ialah Ahli-ahli Jawatankuasa Eksekutif Pertahanan dan ABDB, Pesuruhjaya Polis PPDB, Pemangku Naib-Canselor Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Ketua-Ketua Perwakilan Asing, Penasihat-penasihat dan Atase-atase Pertahanan yang menetap dan tidak menetap di Negara Brunei Darussalam, Pengarah-pengarah, Komandan-komandan, Ahli-ahli Fakulti daripada UBD dan Pegawai-pegawai Kanan Kementerian Pertahanan.
