– The Network of ASEAN Chemical, Biological and Radiological Defence Experts (ASEAN CBR Network) organized a virtual workshop on “Promoting Scientific Cooperation to Manage Infectious Disease Outbreaks” chaired by Ms. Sng Mui Tiang, Head of Secretariat, Network of ASEAN CBR Defence Experts.
Representing the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) was Colonel Dr Awang Haji Mohd Hafizul bin Haji Mohd Hassan, Chief Medical Officer of Medical Services. Amongst those present were representatives from Medical Services and Chemical, Biological, Radiological Defence Unit.
The objectives of this workshop included information sharing and best practices on combatting pandemic COVID-19, in particular, the use of best scientific methods in identification and detection of the SARS-CoV-2 Virus.
The workshop began with a welcoming remarks by Mr Quek Gim Pew, Chief Defence Scientist, Ministry of Defence, Singapore which was then followed by presentations by invited experts from Singapore, Vietnam and the Republic of Korea.
This workshop provides platform for future collaboration amongst ASEAN member states in accordance with the Joint Statement by the ASEAN Defence Ministers on Defence Cooperation Against Disease Outbreaks during the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) Retreat in February 2020 and the Declaration of the Special ASEAN Summit on Coronavirus Disease 2019 in April 2020.
ABDB MEWAKILI WOKSYOP ATAS TALIAN NETWORK OF ASEAN CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL DAN RADIOLOGICAL DEFENCE EXPERTS

– The Network of ASEAN Chemical, Biological dan Radiological Defence Experts (ASEAN CBR Network) telah mengendalikan woksyop bertajuk “Mempromosikan Kerjasama Saintifik untuk menangani wabak penyakit berjangkit’ secara talian yang dipengerusikan oleh Sng Mui Tiang, Ketua Sekretariat, ASEAN CBR Network.
Mewakili Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja BruneI (ABDB) ialah Kolonel Dr Awang Haji Mohd Hafizul bin Haji Mohd Hassan, Ketua Pegawai Perubatan. Antara yang turut hadir ialah wakil-wakil dari Khidmat Perubatan dan Kesihatan dan juga Unit Pertahanan Kimia, Biologi, Radiologi dan Letupan.
Diantara objektif woksyop ini termasuk perkongsian maklumat dan amalan terbaik dalam menangani gejala COVID-19 terutama sekali dalam penggunaan kaedah saintifik terbaik untuk mengenalpasti dan mengesan Virus SARS-CoV-2.
Woksyop dimulakan dengan kata alu-aluan daripada Quek Gim Pew, Ketua Ahli Sains Pertahanan, Kementerian Pertahanan Singapura dan diikuti dengan pembentangan kajian terkini daripada pakar-pakar yang dijemput daripada Singapura, Vietnam dan Republik Korea.
Woksyop tersebut menjadi pelantar bagi kolaborasi masa depan diantara negara-negara ASEAN seiring dengan
Kenyataan Bersama oleh Menteri-Menteri Pertahanan ASEAN mengenai Kerjasama Pertahanan dalam Menentang Penularan Penyakit semasa
ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM)
Retreat yang telah berlangsung pada bulan Februari 2020 dan
Declaration of the Special ASEAN Summit on Coronavirus Disease 2019 pada bulan April 2020.
