THE 12th ADMM-Plus EXPERTS’ WORKING GROUP ON MILITARY MEDICINE CONVENED VIRTUALLY

BERAKAS, Wednesday, 17 March 2021 - The 12th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus) on Experts’ Working Group on Military Medicine (EWG on MM) took place virtually at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas today.

This is the first meeting conducted by Brunei Darussalam and Australia as co-chairs of the 4th Experts’ Working Group Cycle for 2021-2024. Brunei Darussalam was represented by Colonel Dr. Haji Awang Mohd. Hafizul bin Haji Awang Mohd Hassan, Chief Medical Officer of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Australia was represented by Commodore Nicole Curtis, Australia Defence Force, Director General of Operational Health.

The meeting highlighted the lessons learned from the previous EWG on MM cycle and how it can be further expanded under this cycle. Guest speakers also delivered several briefings related to health and safety in the region, including a session on COVID-19 vaccination experiences.

The meeting also shared the EWG on MM framework for this cycle. The main focus and approach are implementing project-based community medical deployment (PCMD) in one of the selected ASEAN communities according to the ASEAN Standby Arrangements Standard Operating Procedures (SASOP) guidelines to improve the existing health care. The programme under this cycle will also involve the ASEAN Centre for Military Medicine (ACMM), which acts as the main instrument to coordinate and facilitate the interoperability of different participating countries’ capabilities and abilities during the PCMD.

Since its establishment in 2010, the EWG on MM has strengthened cooperation, interoperability and coordination among the military medical services of the 18 ADMM-Plus countries as envisaged by the ADMM-Plus leaders.




MESYUARAT KUMPULAN KERJA PAKAR PERUBATAN TENTERA ADMM-PLUS KE-12 BERSIDANG SECARA MAYA

BERAKAS, Rabu, 17 March 2021- Mesyuarat Kumpulan Kerja Pakar Perubatan Tentera (EWG on MM) ADMM-Plus ke-12 telah berlangsung secara maya di Pusat Persidangan Antarabangsa, Berakas pada hari ini.

Mesyuarat ini merupakan mesyuarat pertama yang diadakan di bawah Pengerusi Bersama Negara Brunei Darussalam dan Australia bagi kitaran EWG on MM kali ke-4 bagi tahun 2021-2024 dimana Negara Brunei Darussalam telah diwakili oleh Kolonel Dr. Haji Awang Mohd. Hafizul bin Haji Awang Mohd Hassan, Ketua Pegawai Perubatan, Angkatan Bersenjata Diraja Brunei (ABDB) dan Australia diwakili oleh Commodore Nicole Curtis, Australia Defence Force Director General of Operational Health.

Mesyuarat ini mengetengahkan pembelajaran yang diperolehi dari kitaran EWG on MM yang lepas dan bagaimana ianya boleh diperkembangluaskan lagi di bawah kitaran ini. Beberapa taklimat berkaitan dengan keselamatan kesihatan di rantau ini termasuk sesi mengenai pengalaman vaksinasi COVID-19 juga telah disampaikan oleh penceramah-penceramah jemputan.

Mesyuarat ini juga mengongsikan rangka kerja EWG on MM bagi kitaran kali ini. Fokus dan pendekatan utamanya ialah kepada melaksanakan project-based community medical deployment (PCMD) di salah sebuah komuniti negara ASEAN yang dipilih menurut garispandu Standby Arrangements Standard Operating Procedures (SASOP), ASEAN bagi meningkatkan penjagaan kesihatan yang sedia ada. Program di bawah kitaran kali ini juga akan melibatkan ASEAN Centre for Military Medicine’s (ACMM) sebagai instrumen utama yang akan menyelaras dan memudahcara interoperability keupayaan dan kebolehan negara-negara yang turut serta semasa PCMD.

Sejak ditubuhkan pada tahun 2010, EWG on MM telah berjaya mengukuhkan kerjasama, interoperability dan penyelarasan di kalangan perkhidmatan Perubatan Tentera bagi kesemua 18 negara ADMM-Plus sepertimana yang telah dihasratkan oleh ketua-ketua ADMM-Plus.
